Fiction, sometimes is an accurate portrayal of my writing. It is not so accurate at summing up my reaing though. It has been years since I have read an fiction. That may change soon.
I love to read, but I dabble mostly in non-fiction. It always seemed more utilitarian; a trait that has defined me before. As I love to write more as time progresses I become more interested in fiction. It is not an easy realm for me to explore, but I will get there.
The first route will send my through short stories. I used to quite enjoy a radio program called "Selected Shorts" which was aired on my local public radio station, OPB. They are fascinateing and fall into a realistic fiction category which is where I will head as well.
This afternoon I will be visiting a used book store for an inspiring title or two. My writing needs significant work, and work I will. Grammer is convention and spelling is for proof reading, but structure, ideas and voice define a piece.
Fiction is my next frontier, so it seems prerequisite that I read some before I make too many attempts. I will take a stab at some fiction before the week is out. Whether I am good or horrible, I need to practice. And I shall.
